ESG policy.

Coherent’s mission is to absolve healthcare of its financial and administrative overwhelm, so that healthcare & wellness practitioners can focus on serving patients. We want to transform the way that healtchare practices operate their back-office, freeing up capacity and resource to improve access to and quality of care.

Environmental considerations

As a software business the majority of our environmental impacts are scope 3, that is indirect impacts from organisations whose products and services we use. We are a remote-first organisation, and endeavor to limit environmental impact otherwise associated with managing a full-time, in-person office. We advocate reducing, re-using and recycling any tangible resources from food waste to printer cartridges. When we travel to meetings with stakeholders, public transport is encouraged.

Our software is deployed on cloud infrastructure, so we are reliant on providers’ environmental impact management approach. As an SME customer, we have limited ability to influence their environmental choices. Similarly, as an SME customer of hardware and software products, we have limited scope to influence the environmental footprint of vendors. We regularly review our end of life measures for computing equipment to support local community projects where possible.

The average website produces 1.76 grams of CO2 per page view, which we believe that we are in line with.

Social considerations
We are a small but diverse team - of varying ages, ethnicities and genders. We welcome the opportunity to collaborate with all people, including those from historically underrepresented or marginalised background.

We support flexible working, and are committed to making work possible and flexible to support the work-life balance of all our team. We believe that spending time together in person is a necessary foundation for developing relationships that align around shared vision. Equally, we appreciate and support remote work.

We seek to champion diversity in recruitment, and actively recruit across diverse backgrounds. We periodically review our recruitment in order to identify areas that may need positive action measures to promote equal opportunity and diversity.

We are committed to developing a workplace culture that reflects our values of being authentic, agile, and collaborative. Our employees should be - and feel - safe from harassment and bullying. They should be - and feel - free to discuss concerns about our operations without fear of consequences.

We seek to work with people that say what they mean. We feel that toxic positivity and artificial harmony erode trust, so we prefer high-stakes conversations. We appreciate that meaningful, productive relationships may need some friction to test boundaries and experience unconditional respect.

Governance considerations

We are committed to developing business relationships with high quality suppliers and partners who themselves are committed to operating under standards aligned with our own - including in the fair treatment of customers, employees and other stakeholders.

We place premium on data security and privacy, essential elements of high trust engagements today. Though we are a small and agile team, we take handle data and privacy with care. We expect the same of our partners.

We are committed to using our voice to stand up for causes related to our business in line with our values and ethics.
